One year ago this month, my son received his transplant.
It’s hard to put into words what that anniversary means to our family. There is deep gratitude, relief, and so much hope. His health is stable and we are incredibly thankful. But transplant doesn’t mean the journey is over.
He is medically complex, and even though his transplant has given him such a gift, we still travel eight hours to Mayo Clinic regularly to see his transplant team and multiple specialists. There are appointments, labs, check-ins, and careful monitoring that help keep him thriving. This is our “new normal,” and we embrace it with grateful hearts.
Somewhere in the middle of hospital stays, long drives, and learning how to manage medications and appointments, I found comfort in baking. Decorating sugar cookies with royal icing became something steady in a world that often felt unpredictable. It was creative, detailed, and required patience all things this journey has taught me.
What started as something therapeutic slowly grew into something more.
This cookie business helps offset the cost of medical travel and ongoing care. Every custom order supports gas for those eight-hour drives, hotel stays when needed, and the countless expenses that come with complex medical care.
When you order cookies from me, you’re not just getting something sweet for your celebration. You’re helping our family continue to show up for the appointments, the monitoring, and the care that keeps my son healthy.
We are so thankful for this community. Thank you for supporting our small business and for being part of our story.
With love,
Ashley
